Ms. Cortes joins St. Bernadette as the Physical Education and Music Teacher. She began her teaching career as a Science teacher with the Guam Department of Education shortly after graduating with a degree in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology. She spent her afternoons coaching middle school interscholastic sports and subsequently taught PE before moving to Seattle. She has coached girls’ and boys’ cross country, track & field and volleyball, as well as girls’ soccer and basketball.

Ms. Cortes is passionate about community, enriching student-life, and life-long learning. Playing the piano is one of her favorite pastimes. She spent eight years on Praise teams, playing keyboards through high school and at college for RIT’s for Campus Crusade for Christ worship team.
